Both varieties can experience dental problems, including tooth loss and gum disease. Their fine bone structure makes them susceptible to fractures.

Additionally, they may be prone to patellar luxation (dislocated kneecaps) and eye conditions like progressive retinal atrophy. Responsible breeding and regular dental care are essential to maintain their oral health. Sun protection and cautious handling to prevent injuries are also important to ensure their well-being.
